The
Dragon is a powerful symbol of power and authority. Hence, the year
2000 is a metal on earth Dragon year and this is a year that is
full of earth and metal with a little bit of water and wood. Hence
the metal there is aggressive and therefore maybe a war or threatened
by war and disturbances can happen to the World.
Hence, more accidents
are likely and especially on the roads. The Water Industries will
be flourishing in a controlled manner. Water industries like shipping,
telecommunication, consultancy firms etc. Communication industry
(recording firms, anything to do with communication like talking
and internet) will be on the proper path. The Media (Television,
radio and newspaper) will have self control and will not be as polluted
as before and this is a healthly development.
Real estate (property)
will continue to be the leader in economy. The supply still exceeds
the demand and real estate prices can only gain in a steady and
healthy manner. Gold prices will bottom out while the financial
sector is resurrecting.
Do you know that
the year of your birth need not indicate your true age ? According
to the old Chinese Astrological System that the year of birth indicates
a certain segment of a sixty year time cycle. Three systems are
used for counting and classifying the years: The ten Heavenly Stems,
the twelve Earthly Branches, and the twelve Animals.
The exact origins
of the twelve animal system remain unknown. However, legend has
it that that, once upon a time, the Jade Emperor was bored and having
nothing to do in Heaven. He did not see what was happening on earth.
As he always had servants satiating to his every wish and desire.
One Day, he decided that he wanted to see the animals that inhabited
the earth so he sent word to his advisers to bring him twelve animals
(which he considered to be a good sampling.) The adviser first sent
an invitation to the rat, telling him to also bring the cat. But
the rat's jealousy prevented the cat from actually receiving the
invitation.
Further invitations
were also sent on to the ox, the tiger, the rabbit, the dragon,
the snake, the horse, the goat, the monkey, the rooster and the
dog, asking for their presence at the palace the following day.
When they lined up in front of the king, the King found that they
had only eleven animals instead of twelve. Therefore, the king sent
his servant down to earth to retrieve the twelfth animal. The servant
ran into a man carrying a pig, and he hastily grabbed it and delivered
it to the King.
The animals stood
in front of the King in no particular order. The rat, being smaller
than the rest, hopped on the ox's back and proceeded to play the
flute. The King was very impressed by this display. He gave the
rat first place. Second place was given to the to the ox for its
good sportsmanship, and third to the courageous appearing tiger.
The rabbit was given fourth place, the dragon fifth, the snake sixth,
the horse seventh, the goat eighth, the monkey ninth, the rooster
tenth, and the dog eleventh. By default, and due to the king's just
nature, twelfth place went to the pig. After the ceremony concluded,
the cat (who missed the invitation) begged the king to reconsider
but was told it was too late.
According
to the Chinese Astrological System, each year begins early in the
calendar year on a new moon and is associated with one of the twelve
animals. Their qualities "animate" the year and flavour it with
their distinct natures. So what is your animal sign ? Read on to
find out.
