"The Magic Luo Shu Grid"
"Hei, a Luo Shu Grid in Singapore ? you must be kidding !!!"

Fengshui applications on buildings are examples of how fengshui is being applied to real life places. Of course, there are many places in Singapore where fengshui is actually being applied. However most people are still not aware of what fengshui REALLY is and hence they might not be aware at all !

One interesting place , in this issue will talk about a "historial place" which we shall call it "Far East Square" that had fengshui elements applied some years back. This place is located somewhere in the city area where lots of people simply love to hang out after a hard day's work.

For example, if one were to step into this wonderful "Square", you would be immediately greeted by :
A) Its 5 Gates of fire, earth, metal, water and wood. I call it the "Five Heavenly Gates".

On top of each "Heavenly Gate" was a "Kirin". A "Kirin" is a mystical creature which had the face of a Dragon, body of a horse and with scales of a carp (prosperous fish), thereby symbolising that as each person walks underneath each Gate (in reality there are only 3 constructed Gates), they will be blessed by the Kirin above, thereby giving them good luck !

B) Then somewhere in the middle of this "Square" is located a "Luo Shu Grid": The "Flying star school of fengshui" has its backbone on the "Luo Shu Grid" and within this ground of Singapore lies the "Luo Shu Grid model" !

Now where is it ? It looks like the sketch drawn. So what exactly is a "Luo Shu Grid" ? Look at the "Luo Shu Grid" below.

This Grid is derived from an old record in ancient books that states that a giant turtle was found in the river Lo at the time of Xia Yu who tamed the Yellow river and founded the Xia Dynasty. On the back of the turtle was found a colourful pattern. This "picture" (the numbers above) was recorded and subsquently called the Lo Shu meaning the map from the River Lo. The Luo Shu numbers are displayed in the 3 x 3 magic square. The nine numbers will now be called the nine stars. They represent 9 different combinations of energies. These energies are auspicious or inauspicious depending on time. Each star has its own properties. There are three earth stars ; 2,5 and 8, two wood stars; 3,4, two metal stars; 6, 7 ; one water star ; 1 and one fire star; 9.

Now look at the "Luo Shu Grid" again, one can see numbers there (above diagram). The most fortunate direction would be where the timely star (energy) resides in that particular period. (A bit of fengshui text for those die hard lovers of fengshui !)

So the water fountain in this "Square" actually has a "Luo Shu Grid" where water actually sprouts out from it. Don't believe, come to this wonderful place and take a look ! At night, colourful lights shine on them to resemble the colourful patterns of the dots found on the back of a turtle !

C) There are also various water fountains in the right locations of this "Far East Square" giving it vibrant energy. And because of the soothing sound of water, most people enjoy coming here for a cup of coffee or simply to have beer.

D) Also on this "Far East Square" is a tall building which actually resembles "A tall real life Kirin" ! and this kirin sits tall and protect "Far East Square" bringing with it - energy, harmony, and most important of all, prosperity for the owners of "Far East Square" ! There are 40 tour guides who usually bring tourists to this "Far East Square" and they are all well trained in fengshui to explain the fengshui aspect of this "Square" so as to bring out the fact that fengshui is alive and is right here on Far East Square ! Of course they are trained by our local FengshuiQueen, Master Lynn Yap ! To conclude, Singapore is indeed extremely rich in its history and culture of fengshui if only you LOOK hard enough.
